Dates: your allies for a healthy and balanced diet

Dates have never been as popular as they are now. It makes sense when you know that this sweet fruit is a treat for your tastebuds... and wonderful for your health! Dates can be found all year round in dried form, but they are even better fresh, to enjoy in season from September to November. Does a packet of Medjool dates make your mouth water, but you don’t know how to cook them? Info, benefits, and recipe ideas: read our article to find out more about this desert berry!

A small indulgence 😋

Grown in warmer climes – in the Middle East, North Africa, California or Australia – dates have been known for their benefits since 3000 BC. Eat them as they are to stock up on energy or use them in your desserts as a healthy alternative to refined sugar.

Of course, you should eat dates in moderation due to their high glucose, fructose, and sucrose content.

But these fruits are different from refined sugar due to their nutritional value: they are rich in fibre, vitamins and minerals, which are all nutrients that promote good digestion.

Date cakes 🎂

Do you want to adopt a healthier lifestyle, but green smoothies aren’t your cup of tea? Dates to the rescue! By adding two or three dates to your blender, you’ll mask the bitterness of spinach or celery.

Another tip: use dates to give a solid base to your home-made tart. Remove their stones (if this hasn’t already been done), pour boiling water over them and leave them to soak for around ten minutes. Then, drain the dates and blend them with speculoos cookies or a biscuit with a neutral flavour. You just need to push the dough to the bottom of your mould, and that’s it. A piece of cake! Take a look at our recipes to get some inspiration.

Peanut butter protein balls 💪

Protein balls: the web is full of them, and for good reason! It’s wonderful to enjoy a sweet treat without feeling guilty… The recipe is very simple: mix six soft dates (de-stoned), 30 grams of oat flakes and one dessert spoon of peanut butter in your blender, then roll the paste into balls.

Let the balls harden in the fridge and enjoy a delicious indulgence

a green lettuce or two bags of iceberg lettuce
a few strips of smoked salmon
two handfuls of walnuts
